USDA awards funding to 2 Maine snowmobile clubs [Video]

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The USDA has awarded funding to two Maine snowmobile clubs for trail maintenance.

In total, the Cold Mountain Snowmobile Club in Grand Isle and the Hermon Snowmobile Club will receive $118,000.

The Hermon club will use nearly $90,000 to purchase equipment to groom the trails.

The Cold Mountain club will use $28,000 for similar equipment.

The funding comes from the USDA’s Rural Business Development Grant program.

Snowmobiling is a big business in Maine as the state offers more than 14,000 miles of trails.
