MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – It’s that time of year again. The Rotary Winter Wonderland at the Marshfield Zoo is almost ready to dazzle the community.
Volunteers have been working hard for weeks stringing the more than 1.5 million lights and setting up displays. Now all that’s left are the finishing touches.
“We had businesses down here during the week so it went up a lot faster than it has in the past,” Project Coordinator with the Marshfield Rotary Club Danielle Nystrom said.
Starting in mid-October, candy canes, gingerbread men, and snowflakes galore were arranged throughout the zoo.
It takes around 200 to 300 people to help set up the display, but all that work is worth it when the crowds start coming in.
“It’s super rewarding to see all of everybody’s hard work pay off on opening night,” Nystrom said. “Especially kids walking through the park. That’s one of my …
