TULSA, Okla. — While many shoppers are heading out to do some Black Friday shopping, many are participating in the 5k Turkey Trot.
Before the race 2 News spoke to two sisters who are using the race as a way to get the family together.
1,300 runners took part in the 5k, some for-bragging rights.
And for others just an excuse to spend time with friends and family, like sisters Aubrey Stroman and Amberly Morris who ran together for the first time.
“We’re setting a good example for our families. They’re coming to support and it’s something fun to do. The turkey trot is a staple,” Stroman said.
The sisters told us having a big thanksgiving meal Thursday, prepared them for the race.
They also had their own little fan club cheering them on, even on a chilly morning.
Morris says could be the start of something new.
“A nice tradition to start ya know,” Morris said.
