Original buildings showcase unique history in town of Steinauer [Video]

STEINAUER, Neb. (KOLN) – While main street in Steinauer is small, there are a few buildings that still remain from the town’s early years.

The saloon building is an original.

Julie Gottula’s great grandfather started the saloon, and she says her family had a brush with fame thanks to the business.

“My great grandfather, he got his alcohol from Omaha, that’s where it was delivered from. The gentleman who delivered, his children were Fred and Adele Astaire. They would actually come with their father, and they played with my grandmother. So when they came down to deliver, my grandmother would play with Fred and Adele Astaire, and that is our little claim-to-fame in our family that we knew someone famous way back when,” Gottula said.
