Downtown trolley starting Friday connects Cedar Rapids busiest neighborhoods [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – From restaurants to retail, there’s plenty to do across Cedar Rapids’ busiest areas: Downtown, New Bohemia, Kingston Village, and Czech Village.

But the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance says it can be difficult to get from one of those destinations to another.

“We want to create an atmosphere and experience for them community. Given them an opportunity when they’re downtown, not to have to jump in their car, if they’re already parked, you know, to explore the different core districts. ” said Jennifar Bassett, Program Manager for the Downtown Cedar Rapids District.

Starting Friday you can use this: a Downtown Trolley that takes riders across those four neighborhoods free of charge from 5pm to 11pm.

And for Allie Lanham, the owner of Newbo restaurant The Hangry Lady, this could make a big difference in improving foot traffic to the area.
