Tom McNestry, who along with Noel Fahy held out against Statoil taking over the Dún Laoghaire petrol station they operated in a long-running legal battle, has died aged 64.
McNesty died last Thursday (5 December) after being treated by the oncology department at St Vincent’s University Hospital and latterly Blackrock Hospice.
He is survived by his siblings, extended family, and friends.
A death notice on RIP.ie said he would be fondly remembered by his colleagues and clients at CBRE and his pals at Dún Laoghaire Golf Club as well as “by a multitude of people who were touched by his innate goodness.”
His funeral mass will be held in the Holy Rosary Church in Greystones on Thursday morning before he is buried in Shanganagh Cemetery in Shankill.
McNestry and Fahy opened a BP service station at Rochestown Avenue in 1988, the first of four ran by the business partners.
