SAN ANTONIO — The city plans to make downtown more bike-friendly, with city council approving funding for two new bike routes.
One of them, called the Market Street Cycle Track is completely funded by federal dollars. Nearly 16 million dollars were approved Thursday.
“There is significant bike traffic in downtown,” said Razi Hosseini, director for San Antonio Public Works. “They are just all over the place. They’re on sidewalks, they’re on the travel lane.”
The Market Street Cycle Track starts at Flores St and Dolorosa St. It continues down Flores Street, until the Riverwalk, at which point bike lanes would go down Commerce Street to I-37.
Another project which the funding was approved Thursday, starts at North Frio St and Houston St, and ends at I-10.
