Terry Peak opens with new snowmaking tech this weekend [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Ready. Set. Go. Terry Peak’s marketing director, Linda Derosier, says her team is gearing up for this weekend’s Terry Peak Ski Area opening.

“We’re excited to announce that we’re going to be starting our full-time season this Sunday, Dec. 15,” Derosier said.

The ski area received around a foot of snow; recent cold temperatures have also aided in snowmaking.

The mountain won’t be 100% open, but Derosier says runs should continue to become available.

“We’ll have limited slopes open for Sunday and hope to add to those slopes as we go,” Derosier said.

As we are still early in the winter, and the weather will be on the variable side, certain slopes, such as Stuart Slope, Welcome and Little Phil will be opened. The Stewart, Surprise and Snow Carpet lifts will be opened, but not all of them. This has a bearing on how lift …
