NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – IV Waste submitted the winning bid for rights to an emergency one-year contract to pick up trash and recycling in the French Quarter and Downtown New Orleans starting Dec. 23, its own announced Sunday (Dec. 15).
Sidney Torres IV made the announcement in a Facebook post, promising, “We are ready to get the French Quarter back to smelling lemony fresh with the cleanest sidewalks and streets anywhere, just like we did back in the day.”
The contract was put out to emergency bid by the City of New Orleans last week, after the New Orleans City Council refused to sign off on an agreement with businessman Troy Henry’s Henry Consulting, which won a bid for the contract last December.
