Former pool company owner pleads guilty to several charges of theft [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A former Mobile pool company owner accused of stealing almost half a million dollars pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Last year, Doug Wilson was indicted on fourteen counts of theft by deception in Mobile County.

He was accused of taking homeowner’s money to build pools, but never finishing them.

According to court documents, Wilson pleaded guilty this month to twelve counts of first-degree theft of property, which is a Class B felony.

FOX10 News reached out to some of Wilson’s alleged victims, who had mixed emotions.

One woman says after Wilson’s arrest, he came back and completed 98% of her pool in March of 2023.

Another alleged victim says regardless of the guilty plea he’s still out thousands of dollars.

Investigators with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office say Wilson operated under the company “Wilson’s Pool Design.”
