Rain chance ends 2024 in Charlotte, cold weather starts 2025 [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The last day of 2024 will be a bit warmer than usual, but colder weather will return for the start of the new year.

• New Year’s Eve: Mild, turning breezy, early PM shower/storm chance
• Ringing in the New Year: Wind chills in the 30s, dry outside the mountains
• Start of 2025: Dry, but getting colder!

Temperatures will reach the low 60s along and southeast of the I-85 corridor this afternoon before another cold front moves in. This will usher in breezy conditions with a band of showers and an isolated gusty storm or two by the early evening hours. Those rain chances quickly exit east as colder temperatures work in.

Temperatures will drop into the 40s by midnight, with feels-like temperatures in the 30s in many locations as we usher in the new year.
