Limestone County considers disaster relief funding after Athens tornado [Video]

ATHENS, Ala. — City workers are repairing downed lines, and residents are picking up the pieces from an EF1 tornado that tore through Athens just after Christmas. But getting everything back to normal after the storm could take FEMA funds, small business loans and help from the state.

Small businesses making up the heart of the city square are hoping to rebuild and repair. However, the ones that sustained major damage are now wondering how they’ll pay for it all.

State representative Danny Crawford said he’s already trying to get funding support in the legislature, but he added the rebuilding efforts could take months.
