9-year-old badly burned after indoor s’mores kit starts fire in Maryland [Video]

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — A 9-year-old remains in critical condition after a kit used for making s’mores indoors caught fire in Laurel Monday afternoon.

According to the Anne Arundel Fire Department, first responders were called to a home in the 8500 block of Crooked Tree Lane for reports of a fire in the living room. Crews from Fort Meade Fire & Emergency Services, and The Howard County Fire Department of Fire & Rescue Services also responded to the call for help. 

When firefighters arrived, they extinguished the flames and made sure it did not spread to the rest of the townhouse. Meanwhile, emergency medics helped a woman and 9-year-old who were both burned in the fire. 

The 9-year-old was then taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Facility with life-threatening injuries. The …
