Carson Wentz to start at QB as Chiefs plan to rest Mahomes, others against Broncos [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs team that takes the field in Denver will look different than it did on Christmas.

Head coach Andy Reid named Carson Wentz the starting quarterback, and said Patrick Mahomes is not expected to play in the game.

“It wasn’t a hard decision,” Reid said.

Reid went on to say he is still working on the plan, but also expects to rest other starters. He said some players are obviously banged up and the extra rest will help. Reid also said He said he isn’t concerned that some starters won’t play for three weeks.

“I’ve been through that before. I’m not too worried about it. It gives other guys the chance to grow when you can use everybody,” Reid said.
