The Des Moines Register and J. Ann Selzer acted with “intentional deceit or reckless disregard” in releasing the Iowa Poll, the lawsuit reads.
DES MOINES, Iowa — Just weeks after President-elect Donald Trump’s, a second lawsuit was filed on Tuesday against the Des Moines Register, its parent company Gannett, pollster J. Ann Selzer and her polling firm Selzer & Company.
The lawsuit, filed in Polk County District Court, differs from Trump’s as it is a class-action lawsuit, largely centered on consumer fraud.
The Center for American Rights, a Chicago-based nonprofit law firm, is representing Dennis Donnelly, who lives in West Des Moines and subscribes to the Register.
The lawsuit alleges that when the poll was published Selzer and the Register gave subscribers “a fundamentally flawed product.”
“The Des Moines Register here failed in its promise to our client and all of its other subscribers to deliver fair and accurate news,” Center for American Rights attorney Daniel Suhr told Local 5.
