Consumers urged to shop small following winter storm [Video]

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – All of us are still trying to recover from this weather, and it can really take a toll on small businesses.

Just a couple of slow days can make or break their income.

After a slow and snowy start to the week, Holli Myers, owner of VC Boutique in Huntington, is heading back to normal hours.

In her nine years working there, she’s learned that winter weather can play a part in sales.

“It’s been enormously effective. “I mean just a few days can really set you back,” she said.

Myers hopes people everywhere will prioritize shopping small following the winter storm.

“We really do need your support right now,” said Myers. “Restaurants, businesses, downtown, this is the time we need it the most.”

Business owners have gotten creative, posting on social media and putting more items on sale and online.
