Wilbraham native finds hope after losing everything in California wildfire [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Los Angeles fire officials called Wednesday a “PDS”, a particularly dangerous situation, as high winds once again impacted the region and the fires continued to burn after thousands of houses have already been destroyed and tens of thousands of people are displaced.

Just over a week ago, the Palisades fire, one of several now burning in L.A. County, first flared up. Driven by strong winds, it’s, so far, responsible for the deaths of eight people and the destruction of at least 5,000 homes and businesses. One of those homes was the apartment where Quinn Garvey of Wilbraham and Colby Strong used to live. “Tuesday morning, we were monitoring the winds. On the news, they were saying if a fire breaks out, it’s going to be bad. Next thing you know, we look out our window and see smoke approaching,” Strong said.
