One of the Georgia Popeyes that closed over lawsuit has reopened in Macon [Video]

While not all locations are up and running, one shop reopened, marking the end of the company’s sudden closing caused by broken promises and legal battles.

MACON, Ga. — A business deal gone wrong shuttered nearly all Central Georgia Popeyes essentially overnight back in May 2024, turning the deep fryer off and locking the doors to the public.

But on Tuesday, one Central Georgia Popeyes location is deep frying once again, sparking long lines and hungry customers.

All 16 publicly accessible Popeyes locations — excluding the location at Robins Air Force Base — closed suddenly and without much fan-fare, impacting locations in Macon, Cochran, Warner Robins and more.

Nearly 8 months after first shutting down, the Popeyes location on Thomaston Road in Macon has finally opened its doors, frying up the chain’s signature fried chicken once again, according to franchise owner James Pollan.

“A lot of blood sweat and tears,” he said.
