LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A lot has changed in Lincoln over the past 100 years, but one thing that has stayed the same is one of the construction companies that’s helped build the capital city.
The Kingery Construction Company began back in 1924, founded by the Kingery family in Lincoln as they traveled the state taking on public work projects such as schools and churches during the Great Depression.
Their century-long resume now includes structures visible all around Lincoln, from the Lied Center for Performing Arts to the dorms at the the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
“We like to take on projects that have an impact on the people of the community,” said Rick Wintermute, Kingery’s current vice president. “It’s great to be able to take my kids down nearly every street in the city and point out the different projects we’ve done.”
