Next week marks one year since the Lewiston mass shooting, which left 18 people killed and several injured. While the healing process and grief for many is still so fresh nearly a year later, one resource has been by their side from the start. Two K-9 first response dogs have been supporting those impacted by the Lewiston mass shooting, providing peace and comfort to anyone who needs it. Kimmy Brown and her two critical incident therapy dogs, Sky and Campbell, make up K-9 First Response Maine. Their work helps those suffering in the aftermath of a traumatic event or significant loss.“I see miracles, and I see smiles and I see tears that, that need to happen that people have held in for so long because they’re able to be able to release that with a K-9,” Brown said.
