ANDERSON, Calif. – An Anderson business owner is picking up the pieces tonight after a fire destroyed her barn Monday morning.
The fire started around 6:40 A.M. on her property on Balls Ferry Road in Anderson. “My son-in-law was driving to go to work, and he noticed smoke. But, by the time he got down here, the barn was already being engulfed in fir,” Sylvia Chatham-Perez told Action News Now on Monday.
While her barn might be gone, nearly a dozen horses are safe after being evacuated out of the barn by Chatham-Perez’s neighbors and family.
Chatham-Perez has lived on her property in Anderson since 2009, and has owned CLR Equine since 2019. “People bring their horses to us when they’re injured or need conditioning,” she explained.
