Andrew Luck Returns to Stanford as Football GM [Video]

INDIANAPOLIS — Andrew Luck is returning to Stanford, taking on a new role as the football program’s general manager. The former Colts quarterback will handle coaching, recruiting, fundraising, and alumni relations, combining football operations with business management.

Luck called the role an “innovative step” and says he’s ready to help Stanford regain its football prominence. He helped revive the program as a player, ending seven straight losing seasons when he became the starting quarterback in 2009. He stayed through his redshirt junior year in 2011, turning down a likely top NFL draft spot, and embraced Stanford’s “Nerd Nation” culture, often praising his teammates with his signature laugh.

Luck unexpectedly retired on August 24, 2019, during a preseason game, citing ongoing injuries throughout his career.
