Apology issued to Edward Teach Brewery over social media post incident [Video]

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – An apology was issued to Edward Teach Brewery (ETB) over a clash on social media that occurred last December.

Madonna Nash had previously made claims regarding an incident between a performing musician and the brewery’s owner, Gary Sholar.

The incident caused several local businesses to pull the brewery’s products from their shelves and bar taps in New Hanover County and various musicians refusing to perform at the brewery.

ETB stated that they attempted to reach out to Nash and the musician after reviewing the security video, and then took legal action. The lawsuit said Nash defamed them, interfered with their business relationships and engaged in ‘unfair or deceptive trade practices, all in violation of North Carolina law.’ Sholar and ETB sought an injunction barring Nash from defaming them as well as $25,000.
