TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Arizona State University is continuing to make moves to further the school’s national standing.
ASU was chosen as a home for a semiconductor lab funded by CHIPS for America research. It’s the third of three CHIPS facilities and the one with the largest investment.
Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly was one of the sponsors of the CHIPS Act, which has already brought other semiconductor plants to the Valley.
“This groundbreaking effort will mean that researchers and startups won’t need to go to China or Europe to test out their cutting-edge prototype microchips — they’ll be able to do that right here in America,“ Sen. Kelly said in a release. ”Creating this world-class prototyping and packaging facility was a priority of mine when negotiating the CHIPS and Science Act. The United States must lead the way in semiconductor research and development, and there’s nowhere more appropriate for it than Arizona.”
