Arkansas Supreme Court adopts new rules after chief justice tried to fire several employees [Video]

The Arkansas State Supreme Court established new rules about how the high court’s employees can be fired.This comes after Chief Justice Karen Baker tried to fire a handful of court employees, according to an administrative order.Baker was elected to be the state’s first female chief justice in November 2024.The order said Baker called the Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Director of Emergency Preparedness and the Chief of Supreme Court Police into her office for a meeting on January 2. There she confronted them about Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests involving her.Baker said she’d prepared termination letters for both the director and police chief but she was unsure if she’d fire them.
