Former Governor Arne Carlson has called out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, saying that he is putting Lake Superior and the BWCA at risk by doing business with the mining company Glencore.
News Talk 830 WCCO’s political analyst Blois Olson joined The Morning Show’s Vineeta Sawkar sharing what Carlson had to say in his letter to Walz.
“I think Governor Carlson has latched on to a new issue, which is water cleanliness in Minnesota. Glencore is one of the groups proposing a mine in northern Minnesota,” Olson shared.
While two other mining groups continue to face legal litigation over mining in northern Minnesota, Olson says Glencore is a smaller operation and new to the party.
Olson feels that because of this, Carlson may be trying to raise the flag early on the potential risks, as he doesn’t think Walz is doing enough to protect the state.
