Artists design new sculpture to memorialize Hebron community member [Video]

CHESTER, Neb. (KOLN) – The former 33,000 square foot Chester school built in 1907 is now a creative space for not-so-typical artists.

Artist Cindy Chinn and her business partner converted the school with 15 classrooms and a fall gymnasium into art studios back in 2006.

“Right now I’m working on a steam-punk time machine toilet,” Chinn said. “The base of it is a prison toilet.”

Alongside steam-punk sculptures, the science lab is where Chinn works on small beadwork and smaller mosaic items.

The other classrooms are for murals, glass art, animations, textiles and just about every thing she’s interested in.

Chinn’s larger metal-working projects art located in the gymnasium. Recently, she and another artist have been piecing together something special for Hebron.
