The non-profit says many first responders in WNC lost their homes after Hurricane Helene
NORTH CAROLINA, USA — First responders in Western North Carolina could get some aid to re-build their homes.
WFMY News 2 spoke to the non-profits founder Lindsay Licausi who said it was on the ground as soon as it got word of the devastation in the mountains.
Back the Blue NC said it all started with a fundraiser to get first responders the tools to help, now it wants to help re-build their homes.
“They were trudging through the mud and working very long hours to try to help the citizens out there. Many officers themselves have lost their homes or have had major damage,” Licausi shared.
She said the organization raised $36,000 and got donations from partners with supplies for search and rescue teams.
