ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A fierce legal battle is underway between two rival home security companies, ADT and Skyline Security Management, as Atlanta News First Investigates continues receiving complaints from ADT customers who allege Skyline duped them into switching services.
Charlene Armstrong, a long-time ADT customer, is among those who believe they were misled into switching to Skyline Security Management. Armstrong claims a Skyline sales representative convinced her to switch by falsely claiming that ADT was going out of business.
“He said he was checking for ADT customers because they were out of business,” Armstrong said. Without verifying the claim, Armstrong signed a four-year contract with Skyline, leaving ADT behind.
ADT did not go out of business, and Armstrong later switched back to ADT. However, she said Skyline is demanding a $2,700 cancelation fee.
