Cannabis sales in Blue Earth County are moving forward. During a meeting on October 22, the Planning Committee and County Commissioners discussed zoning regulations for registering retail cannabis businesses.
All 21 townships in Blue Earth County, including Southbend, Rapidan, and Judson, passed a resolution allowing the county to issue registrations for retail cannabis businesses. Under the new ordinance, cannabis businesses must go through an interim use permit process, with each township playing a role. The goal is to establish a consistent approach, ensuring uniform standards across the county. Additionally, all cannabis retailers must complete the state licensing process through Minnesota. The Planning Commission is scheduled to meet again in November to further discuss the future of retail cannabis in the county.
