Boil water advisory in DeKalb lifted for most residents [Video]

DeKalb Department of Watershed Management said the advisory is still in effect for a small area along Clairmont Road between North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard. Earlier Friday, DeKalb officials said it completed repairs to the water main. Businesses said they were relieved Clairmont Road is now open.

Brookhaven police first warned the community of the Clairmont Road water main break and street closure Monday night.  But by Tuesday, DeKalb County shared that thousands were impacted by the broken water main, which was installed decades ago in 1941.

According to DeKalb County officials, the pipe failed due to the recent freezing temperatures that overwhelmed the aging infrastructure. Some people experienced little or no water pressure as crews worked on the repairs.
