Two Greenville bridges damaged during Hurricane Helene will get on the list for accelerated repairs by South Carolina Department of Transportation.But the work won’t start anytime soon.Anyone using the Swamp Rabbit trail has probably noticed the damaged bridges on Hudson and Washington streets near Unity Park that have been impassable since the storm barreled through on Sept. 27.Flooding after the storm eroded their foundations, officials said. They said the Hudson Street bridge, at the entrance to Unity Park, will be replaced with improvements to the approaches of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. The Washington Street bridge, in the Southernside neighborhood, will be widened in anticipation of future bicycle and pedestrian improvements.Engineering Director Clint Link said the state must complete the work in the next year to qualify for FEMA disaster reimbursement funding.
