CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Thousands of dollars are getting pumped into Calhoun County. The hope is that it will bring new jobs and industry to the area.
Don Hopper with the Calhoun County Economic Development Council says this grant funding will help make land available for development.
Developing potential industrial sites is the goal of the SEEDS grant program. It’s a piece of a four-part state economic program put together by Governor Ivey and lawmakers. Don Hopper says companies are looking to move to Calhoun County and, with the help of this grant, they may be able to make that happen.
”The legislature approved two years ago, as a part of our game plan legislation. The basis of it is basically so that we can help our local communities develop industrial sites,” said Nick Shaver with the Alabama Department of Commerce.
