California atmospheric river storm brings flooding concerns [Video]

One of the biggest concerns is over leaves clogging drains. Both the City of Sacramento and Yolo County are bracing for localized flooding.

Residents in the Pocket neighborhood, like Raymond Feliciana, are doing what the city of Sacramento is calling on everyone to do right now: fill your container first with leaves before making a pile in the street in order to prevent flooding.

The City of Sacramento Public Works Department is doing leaf pick up with “the claw” Monday through Friday and many Saturdays. 

Jesa David, with the department, said they also operate on holidays to keep up with the demand and prepare for this storm.

 “We do see a lot of localized flooding in the city, and people can help with that by keeping leaves out of the storm drains, containers away from the gutter, branches out of the way,” David said.
