MCAULIFFE WAS A CONCORD NEW HAMPSHIRE, SCHOOL TEACHER AND ASTRONAUT WHO DIED IN 1986 ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE CHALLENGER. THE MEMORIAL STATUE HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR A FEW YEARS, AND THAT COMMISSION THAT HELPED CREATE THE STATUE SAYS THEY HOPE IT WILL CONNECT FUTURE GENERATIONS WITH HER LEGACY.
