SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The streets of Sacramento are buzzing with excitement as the city prepares to host the 41st annual California International Marathon (CIM) Sunday.
Over 10,000 runners from across the United States and around the world are gearing up for the iconic 26.2-mile race, which starts in Folsom and winds through Sacramento, finishing at Capitol Mall. The marathon starts at 7 a.m. Sunday.
The event, a holiday tradition for many, has become a major attraction for athletes of all levels. Organizers say the marathon has earned its reputation for a fast course and welcoming atmosphere, drawing participants from all 50 states and numerous international locations.
“It’s a source of great pride for our community,” said Scott Abbott, executive director of the Sacramento Running Association. “Our weather and our topography really make this a globally recognized event.”
