BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – We have an update on the legal fight to reopen the Quest Club in Birmingham. The nightclub was forced to close following a double homicide and what officers say were more than 100 calls to the club.
The city council then voted unanimously to close the business that has been open for more than 40 years.
Still, the owner says they were making safety improvements.
Monday’s hearing lasted several hours with each side going back and forth.
City attorneys argued that Quest ownership was given notice of the license revocation meetings. They reiterated that plain clothed BPD officers were able to go inside the business without being wanded or searched for weapons, and that several neighbors in the area have complained about the business.
One employee who works nearby said it’s been a night-and-day difference since the business closed.
