ROCHESTER, Minn.-As election day gets closer, more political signs are popping up in front of houses.
The City of Rochester said it’s been seeing signs placed in the boulevard. The boulevard is that grassy area between the sidewalk and the road.
Rochester city engineer Dillon Dombrovski said, “signs whether political, whether businesses whatever they might be advertising, a garage sale they cannot be in our right of way they need to be on private property.”
For those who live in houses where there is no sidewalk, there’s a legal way to place signs to they don’t obstruct the line of sight.
“The best bet would be to stay back 12 to 15 feet to ensure that you’re back from the curb and not within our public right of way. If you have questions we can always help look at where your property line is,” Dombrovski said.
