SPOKANE, Wash. — With the holidays coming to a close, the City of Spokane is offering free Christmas tree pickups starting next week.
Starting Monday, you can place your fresh cut trees at least three feet away from garbage and recycling carts on regularly scheduled pickup days and the city will take care of it.
Tree trunks can be no bigger than three inches in diameter. The city will also not accept trees taller than six feet. If your tree is taller than that, you can cut it in half.
Loose branches may be bundled next to the tree. No artificial or flocked trees will be accepted.
All trees collected curbside will be chipped and composted.
Free tree pickups will last through January 10.
City and county residents can also take their undecorated, unflocked trees to the Waste to Energy Facility, Spokane Valley Transfer Station or North County Transfer Station for disposal. Trees taken to these facilities are subject to the minimum charge for clean green disposal …
