WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The first year of lead water service line replacements is complete in Wausau.
In 2024, the goal was to replace a minimum of 553 lead water service lines, and the program exceeded the goal, replacing 602. In 2025, work will take place in Census Tracts 601, 602, 400, 500, 700, and 800.

Water service lines provide the water from the water main in the street to the interior plumbing of homes and businesses. The City owns the water service line from the water main in the street to the curb stop. The property owner is responsible for the private side of the service line from the curb stop valve to the water meter in the home.
