FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – The Alaska Dept. of Transportation (DOT) is collaborating with local businesses to complete the final leg of a project that saw most of the work come to an end last season.
After years of construction, including a bridge replacement, renovations to University Avenue were finished in 2023.
While the work on University Avenue itself is finished, the overall project will finally see full completion this season.
Last week the DOT began work on a cul de sac at the end of Marlin Road, commonly called, Airport Way Frontage Road. This area connects to Teddy Bear Plaza; the home of many businesses. “It’s the last little checkmark we have on the big University Avenue project that started in 2018,” said John Perreault, a public information officer for the DOT.
