Cooling off considerably by weeks end [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Record warm temperatures hit Alaska Tuesday and Wednesday. And now the temperatures are starting to reverse, cooling off. Wednesday, Nome hit 44 degrees, breaking their old record of 39 from 1932! And McGrath tied their daily high record at 41 degrees, from 1961 and 2024.

Interior parts of the state should expect snow. A winter weather advisory goes into effect Thursday, calling for 4-6 inches in the central interior. Winter storm warnings for blizzard conditions are likely for northern Alaska. Not a lot of snow will fall, but it will be blowing around.

A wintry mix of snow and rain is possible for the southcentral region. Light snow is possible for Anchorage on Thursday, and dry on Friday, with a new push of snow Saturday night. Anchor River is still under a flood advisory in Southcentral. High water has been reported along the Sterling Highway.
