WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A small plane left abandoned after crashing in a farm field in rural Ottawa County started a hunt for the aircraft’s owner.

The plane was discovered Saturday, Aug. 31 in a field near 24th Avenue and Arthur Street in Wright Township. The single-engine plane sustained damage to the propeller and right wing after crashing into the ground, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

We’re told the plane’s occupants were nowhere to be found.

Deputies say the plane is believed to have crashed before. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was notified of the incident.

All aircraft in the U.S. must be registered through the FAA.

So far no injuries or deaths have been tied to this crash.

OCSO and the FAA are investigating.
