Dangerous East Nashville Street set to get sidewalks [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville road connected to what the Nashville Department of Transportation has labeled a high injury road, is set to get sidewalks.

NDOT officials shared what they have planned for McGavock Pike during a meeting aimed at hearing from people living in the area.

The meeting held at the Inglewood Branch Library consisted of NDOT officials answering several questions about sidewalks and construction while also breaking down their plans to build sidewalks along McGavock Pike.

“We are adding that four-foot-wide grass strip on both sides, and then we’re adding a six-foot sidewalk which is a couple feet wider than the ADA minimum,” Harrison Turner the Kimley Horn Engineering company said.

NDOT and their hired engineers held their third and final community meeting explaining what they plan to build at this intersection. The other meetings were held on February 1 and August 8 of 2024.
