Decision 2024: The race for Parkersburg mayor [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Two-term incumbent Republican Mayor of Parkersburg Tom Joyce seeks reelection this November. Challenging him is Democrat Sherry Dugan.

Joyce said his record over his first two terms shows voters a strong resume.

“Eliminate the debt,” Joyce said. “Get the streets work done. Rehabilitate two swimming pools. Replace the Jackson fountain. The Parkersburg Ohio River Trail. While at the same time, exempting in excess of three quarters of a million dollars to our smallest businesses through the B&O exemptions process.”

Dugan has lived in Parkersburg for six decades and owns a small business. She also said she has plenty of her own experience with civic engagement.
