JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Democratic candidate for Tennessee House held a rally Wednesday to outline his key priorities if elected.
Brad Batt, a small business owner, is running against incumbent Republican Tim Hicks in House District 6, which includes part of Washington County.

Batt said his key priorities are “breaking up” Ballad Health, protecting public schools, and ending child poverty in Tennessee.
“The actionable thing right now is finding people in Washington County that are fed up with the status quo, so that’s what we’re doing,” Batt said. “And that’s not just Democrats. It’s Republicans and independents and people that feel like they’re not being listened to. So that’s my number one action, is to make their voices louder and get them heard because Nashville isn’t hearing it.”
Batt said the Republican supermajority in the General Assembly is “hostile to the constituents in Tennessee.”
