While thanking a crowd following President Trump’s inauguration, Musk put his hand to his heart and raised it up at an angle that had many googling “nazi salute.”

WASHINGTON — Social media is lighting up with discussion following a speech delivered by Elon Musk after President Trump’s inauguration Monday — but it’s not what Musk said that got everyone’s attention.

The Tesla CEO and X owner took the stage at Capital One Arena on Monday afternoon to thank everyone in attendance for helping to get Trump reelected to the White House. While speaking, he raised his hand to his heart, and shot it straight up and out in a manner similar to a salute used by the Nazis.

“I just want to say thank you for making it happen. Thank you,” Musk said to the crowd before making the gesture.
