TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Bus driver shortages continue to be a problem nationwide. With school starting again in just a few short weeks, some local districts are finalizing transportation plans.
District leaders spoke about how they’re tackling the issue. The main message they gave was, “We are always hiring.”
Whether a district has all of its positions filled or is still trying to fill them, everyone said they’ll take as many drivers as they can get.
“We have to get these kids to school. That’s our goal. That’s our job,” Kim Dye the director of transportation for Washington Local Schools said.
As teachers and students alike are getting ready for another school year, so are those behind the scenes. District leaders are preparing transportation routes with whatever staff they have for the year.
