Downtown unhoused ordered to leave in New Orleans [Video]

Councilmember Lesli Harris, who represents the area released a statement suggesting the notices came from the state.

NEW ORLEANS — The state may be planning another sweep of unhoused people in the Downtown area. People camped out in the French Quarter area told us the notices had been distributed to them in the past few days.

It said they must leave within 24 hours and “failure to comply may result in legal action.” There’s a list of shelters and other resources, and it said they may be moved to an encampment under business U.S. 90 if they refuse.

Nothing on the flyer said who’s giving the order. On Saturday, Councilmember Lesli Harris, who represents that area released a statement suggesting they came from the state.
