A driver was arrested after a Richland County pursuit ended on I-77. Deputies used stop sticks to halt the chase near Leesburg Road.
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person is in custody following a brief pursuit in Richland County on Saturday.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said deputies attempted to stop a person who was wanted out of Lexington County around 12:30 p.m. Authorities said they attempted the stop near the intersection of Two Notch Road and Polo Road. However, the driver refused to pull over, and a chase followed.
Officials said the South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit and attempted to use “stop sticks” to disable the vehicle but was unsuccessful. A follow-up attempt by a Richland County deputy was successful, and the driver, identified by the sheriff’s department as 31-year-old Jonathan Rosales Hernandez, was arrested without further incident on I-77 South near Leesburg Road.
